Memorial Family Care Birthing Center offers classes and events throughout the year to help prepare for the birth of your new family member.

Understanding Birth

Our Understanding Birth class is designed to assist our parents-to-be in the journey through pregnancy and birth. Information on pregnancy changes, both physical and emotional; options for labor and delivery; and aftercare for mom, coach, and baby are included. Participation of both partners is encouraged and helps make this class beneficial and meaningful. Family-centered care is the focus throughout the class.

UNDERSTANDING BIRTH ECLASS

Helping Expectant Parents Prepare for Childbirth
In this eight chapter program, parents will have 24-hour access to interactive activities, videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, and games to teach all the essentials for a great birth experience! With this online class you will have access with an experienced childbirth instructor via email to help you with any questions that may come up as you get ready for this exciting life experience.
Allow 4-6 hours to complete.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding provides your baby with a strong nutritional start and helps with emotional development. Breast milk is an easily digested, perfectly matched nutrition source filled with antibodies that protect against infection. Breastfeeding also promotes bonding and contributes to a special, loving relationship with your newborn. Call (618) 607-3309 at Memorial Hospital Shiloh to talk with a certified lactation consultant. An appointment is necessary.

Memorial Family Care Birthing Center offers free monthly breastfeeding classes for expectant mothers, which is taught by certified lactation consultants. The class reviews breastfeeding techniques and is ideal for new mothers or as a refresher course. If you are considering breastfeeding or have chosen to breastfeed your baby, this class will provide information, encouragement, and support for a successful breastfeeding experience. UNDERSTANDING BREASTFEEDING ECLASS

Helping Expectant Parents Prepare for Breastfeeding
Discover the joys of breastfeeding with our new 8-chapter breastfeeding eClass. This class will provide you with valuable information and tips for a successful breastfeeding journey. You will learn how your body prepares for this amazing experience, as well as learning when to breastfeed, signs of a well-fed baby, breast care, lifestyle changes, and help with transition for returning to work. You will have access to a breastfeeding instructor during your class via email if any questions come up while completing your course.

Becoming a parent is an exciting time, with many new experiences, emotions, and a ton of questions. Consider the Understanding Postpartum Health & Baby Care eClass your go-to guide for caring for yourself and your new baby over the first few days and weeks at home after birth. This interactive online course covers essential information about caring for your newborn, feeding your baby, and taking care of yourself after childbirth. It also highlights important warning signs so you know when to call for help. With this online class you will have 24-hour access to content for 9 months and the ability to email one of our experienced childbirth instructor to help you with any questions that may come up as you get ready for this exciting life experience.
